PHD hairdressing is a modern but urban loft salon in Greenside, Johannesburg and has been established for 16 years under the management of Robi Canha who has recently been joined by his wife and business partner Troes Canha.
PHD has been an exclusive salon which has always lent itself more toward an urban feel and in 2013 the owners decided it was time to renovate the salon.

After a lot of research and discussions with their team on thinking like a consumer and what the consumer needed from a salon, PHD realized that the focus of the renovation could not only be on design and comfort, which is a very big part of it, but on the entire experience from the time our guests arrive up to the last minute they leave.
We feel that South Africans, especially in the big cities like Johannesburg, live at such a fast pace and experience such poor service a lot of the time, that they are hungry for a place where they can relax but also receive service with a smile in a professional environment.
At PHD we strive to be a premium brand by offering premium products in a premium salon with premium finishes at a fair price and yet excel at customer service so that our guest feels they did not only get a professional service and product but also value for money.

Firstly because we have partnered our salon with a premium brands like Schwarzkopf Professional, Redken, Kevin Murphy, which is a 100% organic and cruelty free range, Brazilian Blowout keratin smoothing solution and Veaudry professional Irons and Brushes we offer a full range of products for our guests to take home with them at our retail emporium. The stylists at PHD are a team of motivated and innovative stylists who are dedicated to the "science of hair" and driven by knowledge. The on-going education and training in conjunction with our brand partners makes our stylists experts in the industry of hairdressing. For our bespoke gents who still enjoy the classic shave we have a barbering section where they can receive a hot towel shave the traditional way using UK's top shaving range, The Bluebeards Revenge.
The backwash area at PHD is in a separate room with the focus on total relaxation where mood changing LED lighting and lie down horizontal seats are guaranteed to take the strain off your back and neck leaving you feeling completely refreshed after an intense scalp massage. Our custom made guest stations offer each customer enough personal space so that you can even bring along your mobile device like a tablet or laptop and connect to our Wi-Fi while your colour processes. Fitted out with a top of the range imported Italian coffee machine, our coffee bar is going to put a smile on your face guaranteed. Being on our own property, we are a destination salon with customer parking and the privacy of an outside courtyard and private bathrooms, so you don’t have to deal with the hustle and bustle of a mall environment.
