What is Paper Video?

Paper Video gives South African learners the ability to instantly access a quality teacher for Accounting, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Sciences across Grades 8 to 12 (including Natural Sciences for Grades 8 & 9).

Our Unique Resources:

We currently offer books of past exam papers in the subjects of Accounting, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Sciences across Grades 8 to 12 (including Natural Sciences for Grades 8 & 9).

What makes our resources unique is that every question in our exams is linked to a video solution taught by an experienced teacher, showing you how to go through the problem, step-by-step.

It's like having your own personal teacher on call, wherever you need them, 24/7!

Every book contains links to literally hundreds of video solutions that amount to dozens of hours of teaching time, including explanations of the theory and concepts underlying the solution of a problem.

As of July 2016, we have over 10,000 teaching videos at www.papervideo.co.za, constituting the biggest collection of education videos in South Africa.

Accessing our Resources:

Our video solutions are available both online and offline. To access our resources via our website at www.papervideo.co.za, please go to our Subjects page by clicking on the relevant tab.

Online access to our resources is made possible by our website and app, while our micro SD cards and the Paper Video Hub make it possible for people across South Africa to watch our videos WITHOUT the need for data or an internet connection.

In this way, any student in South Africa with access to an Android device or Windows computer can gain access to a quality teacher for the specific problem they are struggling with.

Our Mission:

One of the biggest obstacles faced by many students in our country is the lack of access to quality educators.

At Paper Video, we use technology and innovation to overcome this obstacle by dramatically increasing the reach of excellent teachers. We have done so through the creation of educational resources that allow every student in South Africa to have easy access to quality tuition in the subjects they struggle with most.

We are also using these resources as teacher training materials, so that those educators wishing to develop and improve their own teaching will be able to get all the support they need.

Simply put, we will endeavour to reach #AllCornersOfSA and allow every South Africa student the opportunity to access a quality teacher.

Affording our Resources:

It is an unacceptable thought to Paper Video that South African students will be excluded from the use of our resources simply because they are unable to afford them.

As such, while our full resources do require payment for use, 40% of the exams and solution videos created by Paper Video in 2015 are available entirely for free on our website at the Subjects page.

Furthermore, we are proud of our partnership with the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA) with whom we work to provide the sponsorship of our full resources to those schools and students that would otherwise not be able to afford them.

How We Started:

Having founded Paper Video in 2014, Chris Mills and Paul Maree applied for and received seed funding from the Millennium Trust.

They used this initial capital to finance the creation of the first Paper Video exam book and website which catered to Matric candidates writing Mathematics in the 2014 National Senior Certificate exams. The website and exam book were released in September 2014 and in the two months preceding the final exams, Paper Video gained more than 2,000 users who accounted for over 37 000 views of our solution videos.

Based on this success and the demands from students for the resource to be made available in more grades and subjects, Chris and Paul expanded the enterprise at the beginning of 2015 to include grades 10, 11 and 12 and the subjects of Accounting, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

In 2016, they once again expanded to include Grades 8 & 9.
