Jaqueline Burge started Rarity Handbags at the turn of the century as a dream to create beautiful and unique products. With a deep love of Africa, and for its dynamic and vibrant people, Jacqueline has found her ongoing motivation. South Africa has inspired the world, and Rarity strives to encompass all our wonderful assets and to translate them into a flawless, contemporary product that celebrates this. The dedication of the Rarity’s Artisans continues to inspire our Clients, and is the foundation of Rarity’s ongoing evolution and success.

Rarity introduced Springbok and Nguni products into the South African Avant-garde, Luxury market in 2002, and the export market in 2004, Rarity’s unique Products have gained quick recognition and popularity and has recently had a Rarity designed Ostrich leg clutch carried by Princess Mary of Denmark to the Monaco royal wedding. (For Naledi Copenhagen) Intellectual Combinations of leathers and materials and the interpretation thereof are our trademark for emerging markets.

From design to manufacture every bag is handmade in house, this gives Rarity the edge of adaptability to clients needs, accountability, and absolute control over Quality. Skins, components, and all materials used are proudly South African, and are sourced reliably consciously and sustainably.

Our Artisans are all trained in house, by Rarity, to transfer skills and create jobs that are needed; this supports our vision of a growing company with growing opportunities’. The signature components are designed in house, to perfectly compliment the complete product, and all our interiors are all crafted out of genuine suede leather in natural colours.
