Salahudien Educare Centre

General information

Salahudien Educare Centre was established in 1999 with the aim to educate and make a difference in the lives of the children entrusted in our care. A big emphasis is placed on allowing children to learn and grow in a stable nurturing environment.

Our teaching method is called Highscope which is active learning which means students have direct, hands on experience with people, objects, events and ideas.

We accommodate learners from the ages of 6 months to 6 years old.
Playgroup: 6 months to 2 years of age
Kindergarten: 3 to 4 years of age
Grade O: 5 years of age
Grade R: 6 years of age (Full school development programme)

Learners are assessed throughout the year and receive progress reports in June, September and December.

Our Islamic programme focuses on daily Surat reading, Hifth, basic Arabic, Nasheeds, Fiqh, Tauheed, history and Akhlaaq. Our routine revolves around Islamic etiquettes.

Salahudien Educare Centre operated for 3 years from the Vygekraal Rugby ground in Johnston Road and thereafter 5 years at the An- Nur Centre in Gatesville Road. Then 3 Haven Crescent, Rylands, hosting 4 classrooms and a TV room. We have recently relocated to a new bigger and improved property at 63 - 3rd avenue in Belgravia.

We started the educare with an enrolment of nine (9) learners and to date we have had 580 graduates to be exact.

Salahudien Educare was named after “Salahudien Al Ayubi” liberator of Jerusalem. He was a devout Muslim. The dominant notes of his character was an acute sense of justice, charitableness, tender heartedness, patience and courage. Salahudien’s secretary reports that he was a man that kept himself occupied in the remembrance of Allah.

Salahudien Educare Centre is not just an educare, it is an extension of the home, and as it is my belief that our loved ones needs to be nurtured in a warm and loving environment. We try to keep our classroom environment warm and cosy thereby making their separation less stressful.
