General information

KATS functionally focuses its strategy and business plan in the South Africa market space. We are responsible for automotive training in our customer base. We have always strived to be the preferred automotive training service provider to our customers by ensuring that students are trained properly and can apply their knowledge in the industry.

We achieve this by defining, interpreting and applying automotive training skills in the market place.

KATS evaluate students who have met the requirements in terms of CBMT (Level 1 through to 4) The training we provide is in terms of Section 28 (Trade test : Dept. of Labour & MERSETA)

We evaluate students to see if they meet the criteria for the four year apprenticeship CBMT and a two year AATP. We also assess students for Service Advisors, Parts and After sales service, Autotronics and Master Technicians. The outcome of the assessments determine if the students are suitable for these positions in terms of the controlling bodies of these respective trades. (ie Merseta, TETA etc.)

Our Section 28 students (Petrol and Diesel) are also evaluated according to the criteria of the Section 28 Trade testing Act of 1981. When a student is declared competent after an assessment and complies with the controlling bodies criteria for Section 28, they are deemed fit to attempt the Section 28 Trade test. The general recommendation is that a student attends a 3 week pre trade test training course for Diesel and a 2 week pre trade test training course for Petrol to familiarise themselves with the theory and practical aspects involved in the Section 28 Trade Test.
