The Redeeming Hope for the Disabled (formerly known as Disabled Refugees Projects) is a South African registered non-profit DPO established in a xenophobic context (May 2008) with the aim of protecting, empowering and integrating refugees and the South African citizens living with disabilities into the mainstream society.
Redeeming Hope for the Disabled (RHD) safeguards human rights, promotes non-discriminatory access to social services, provides temporary accommodation and creates long term sustainable programmes (Vocational skills trainings) to ensure well-being and socio-economic integration of People with Disabilities (PWD)
RHD is led and managed by PWD dedicated to actualize the motto “Nothing about us without us” and contribute ensuring a successful implementation of the policies of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It has a specific focus on promoting human rights, non-discriminatory access to services and makes PWD active and effective contributors in the communities where they live.
