General information

Imagine Dietitians (practice number: 0595039) opened its doors on the 4th of January 2016 in Stellenbosch. The motto is – Live, Health & Life. A holistic approach is the best way to a healthy lifestyle:

Live – signifies living an active life by doing exercise most days of the week. We will be collaborating with personal trainers and biokineticists to ensure that the client receives appropriate advice on exercise.

Health – signifies a healthy life through health promotion. We do Vitality Nutrition Consultations and will be arranging health days or nutrition talks at local businesses and schools.

Life – The last part of the motto is directly related to nutrition – healthy recipes, interesting topics and articles on the latest research will be published on our blog.

Imagine Dietitians offer various dietetic services which include (but is not limited to) nutritional assessments and counseling in hospital for patients who need nutritional support (sip feeds, enteral- or parenteral nutrition) or patients diagnosed with insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus (or any other chronic disease of the lifestyle), cancer, renal problems, rheumatology disease, eating disorders, weight loss and children who are picky eaters, suffer from constipation, have an iron deficiency or have inadequate dietary intake.

At the moment there are two registered dietitians working at the practice: Chantel Richardson and Stacy-Leigh Strydom. All clients / patients are billed at medical aid tariffs to ensure that their medical aid allocation for allied health will be stretched and they can benefit from proper nutritional care and follow-ups where needed, without unnecessary financial limitations.

Chantel Richardson graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2013, where she received the prize as best pediatric student, best surgery and GIT student and for the best research group project. She completed her community service at Sabie Hospital in Mpumalanga, working with both in- and outpatients. There after Chantel moved to Worcester where she joined a private practice. Her responsibilities included working (on referral) in the ICU, medical-, surgical- and paediatric wards. After gaining valuable knowledge in private practice she decided to start a private practice in Stellenbosch.

She has a keen interest in therapeutic nutrition – ICU and surgery, as well as in chronic diseases of the lifestyle (especially diabetes mellitus in both adults and children), eating disorders and basic paediatrics. She is registered with the HPCSA: DT0042412 and is a member of Golden Key, Allergy SA and ADSA.

Stacy-Leigh Strydom received her Bachelors and Master of Nutrition degrees from the University of Stellenbosch in 2012 and 2016, respectively. In 2013, she completed her community service year in her home town at Uitenhage Provincial Hospital in the Eastern Cape, working with both in- and outpatients.

Currently, she is practising as a Registered Dietitian at Imagine Dietitians since November 2016. She is also an external lecturer in Community Nutrition at the Division of Human Nutrition at Stellenbosch University. Stacy-Leigh’s Master’s degree focused on the testing of the Paediatric Food-Based Dietary Guidelines for young children. She has a keen interest in maternal nutrition, breastfeeding and infant and young child feeding. She is also interested in assisting individuals with weight loss, those with eating disorders as well as those requiring nutritional support in hospital. She is registered with the HPCSA: DT0040614 and is a member of ADSA.
