Windfall Wine Farm

General information

The Robertson Valley is renowned for its wine and roses, and offers only the very best of nature. The town is abuzz with friendly, helpful and hardworking people who send tranquil waves of energy flowing through to the small boutique farm at the end of the Valley. The late Eddie Barlow of cricketing fame was so inspired by the mist cascading down the mountains that he renamed the farm WINDFALL. Windfall offers a range of wines in an idyllic valley and we have recently introduced our self catering cottages offering a range of activities for the adventurous or perfect tranquility for the family getaway from the hubub of city life!

SAUVIGNON BLANC 2016
Windfall’s Sauvignon Blanc hosts an array of mouthwatering tastes. Lime and earthy flint notes are followed by tropical flavours of sweet melon, white peach, apple and fig. A true sensation for the nose and palate which does not disappoint. Best enjoyed with Sushi, chicken or fish dishes, salads and creamy pasta dishes.

CHENIN 2016
Windfall’s Chenin Blanc surprises with honey, yellow peach and citrus on the nose. Hints of an earthiness infused with yellow fruit embody this wine which follows through into a creamy smooth finish. Best enjoyed with a traditional South African Braai, pasta dishes, salads, chicken and fish dishes.

ROSE 2016
Windfall’s Grenache Rosé has strawberry and pomegranate notes on the palate with
sweet-melon nuances that linger into a long finish.
Enjoy this slightly sweet wine with friends and an assortment of different dishes. The perfect companion to any occasion.

KIBALI 2013
This full bodied red wine is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tinta Amarela. The wine is smooth with toasted oak and cedar flavours which come through and marry well with the hints of the Cape Flora. The front palate is dry and refined and leads into a complex and layered finish of warm spices.

BARREL 41, 2014
Windfall’s flagship, Barrel 41, is a blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache. Flavours of oak, herbs, spices and berries begin the taste sensation leading into nuances of dark chocolate and warm fruitcake.

SHIRAZ 2013
Windfall's Shiraz is a medium bodied wine which boasts white pepper, red berries, baked fruit and red plums. A beautifully balanced and full finish which does not disappoint. Best accompanied with rich cheese, biltong, olives, casseroles, traditional country dishes and spiced roasts.

SHIRAZ 2014
Windfall’s Shiraz is a medium bodied wine with a complex palate of leather, pepper, herbs, Cape flora and baked red fruits. This complex wine does not disappoint with its layered lengthy finish. Best enjoyed with spicy dishes as well as bold hearty roasts.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014
Windfall’s Cabernet Sauvignon bestows gentle notes of light brown toffee and sweet spices with nuances of eucalyptus. Enjoy this medium bodied, french styled, wine with an array of different cuisines.

THE HUNTER
The Hunter is handpicked from selected Chenin Blanc which grows on the cool Western facing mountain slopes in the Retreat valley- west from Robertson. Only first run juice was used and slowly fermented to produce a base wine with nuances of green apple, citrus and green pea undertones.
