Our Story:

Silkbush Mountain Vineyards is a special place- a destination away from the well-trodden Cape Winelands tourist path, yet not so far away. A hidden Eden accessed via a country drive through spectacular hills, valleys, and views unlike anywhere else on earth. In the Spring, the vines break out in bloom all over the mountainside as the flowering sugarbushes have done for centuries. Native peoples from Breede River Valley walk between the rows, nurturing and tending the soil and the plants. As the sun becomes stronger in the summer, the mountain's shade the vineyards and age-old natural springs keep the valley thriving. Hundreds of years ago, Europeans planted grape vineyards in the tradition of enjoying wine for celebrations and fine dining. In 2000, Silkbush Mountain's grape growing heritage was revived by viticulturist and tenth-generation South African, Anton Roos and Napa & Sonoma vineyard owner Dave Jefferson and his partners. The two men threw themselves into shaping Silkbush Mountain's wild, natural terroir into a spectacular place to grow grapes, raise families, and welcome visitors.
