April 2016 marked a milestone moment for Phil Davies Managing Director of Downcast Studios Ltd based in Gateshead & also the drummer for NWOBHM band “MYTHRA”.
The opportunity came about to purchase Base HQ and expand Downcast Studios, a dream come true to be the owner of two studios and within 2 miles of each other, but on either side of the Tyne.
But the sole objective remaining the same and to offer commercial top quality recording studio with practice rooms and to offer a personal service at competitive rates.
Based beside Newcastle Central Station/A1 motorway, with our own free parking, the fully equipped, acoustically designed studios and practice rooms are open to everyone. Whether it’s recording or rehearsals that you’re interested in, we provide 1st class facilities and exceptional service.

We understand that all our customers needs are different so there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach. We offer a variety of rates and services to allow you to tailor the costs to meet your project expectations and budget. From a basic recording to a fully produced album, composition to voice over or even live video recording, we can help. When you come to Downcast BaseHQ you can expect your project to be treated with respect and dedication until its completion.

We appreciate that you are busy so you can be as involved as you choose. You can spend your time in the studio working closely with one of our professional engineers/producers. Alternatively, take full advantage of an unattended production: leave the hard work for our skilled producers who will provide their expertise and tricks of the trade to take your recording to the next level.

Hints and Tips when selecting a recording studio:

1) Do you feel comfortable with the person/people who will be working on your project?
2) Do they have past projects you can listen to?
3) Can they offer testimonials from previous clients?
4) Have you seen the facilities.
5) If there’s a price difference it’s normally there for a reason. For example is it a professionally built studio or a converted home space? Is it a full time professional business? Check the tech spec, expertise, convenience and service on offer.
6) Ask as many questions as you like! After all It’s your project.
