My Step Up is a farm based day centre for adults with special needs and other challenges.

Set up by parents of two autistic young men we saw the benefits of meaningful work outside with and for the animals and so this inspired us to set up the care farm in Blackburn Lancashire.

We decided on the name “My Step Up" because research shows that meaningful occupation , doing something that matters, significantly improves the health and well-being of all people and enables them to develop to their maximum potential... so the care farm is a step up for the person with autism, special needs, mental health issues and any combination of these challenges.

My Step up aims to provide a fun and active day to give our people a more interesting, less lonely, healthier, more social, fun and happier life. Doesn’t matter what the persons challenge is, let’s work together and find something to look forward to, to meet new friends, to spend a noisy ( or a quiet) time away from the usual home, and get more out of life!

We do this by providing healthy practical outside activities based on the real work activities of a farm.

My Step Up is a social enterprise- a service you pay for- with any profits going back towards the social purpose of increasing the physical social and mental health, visibility and employability of adults with special needs and other challenges.
